  • Moral debt: borrowing to build a long lasting asset (e.g. a road, a bridge, a stadium), and
  • Immoral debt: borrowing to pay this month’s bills (e.g. keep the lights on or pay this month rent).

It is moral and just for our children to pay for that portion of these roads, bridges and stadiums that are used in their “high earning” years.

It is immoral and unjust to require children to pay the monthly living expenses of their diseased parents, especially those expenses for reckless or frivolous living.

Regrettably, modern day political leaders do not bother to distinguish between the moral and immoral debt burdens placed on our children. They routinely ignore the problem and spend in excess of actual tax receipts.

America’s National Debt is currently $18,000,000,000,000 ($18 trillion) and growing rapidly. With an estimated 310,000,000 citizens or 77,000,000 families, this amounts to:

  • $58,000 per citizen, or
  • $230,000 per family.

But, it’s really much worse than that.

In addition to the openly acknowledged debt of $18 trillion of U.S. Treasury bonds outstanding, there is another hidden debt (unfunded and unrecorded debt) of $30 trillion (some argue as much as $128 trillion) for Social Security Retirement and elderly health care (Medicare…). Private corporations are required to report such liabilities/debts openly, but our Federal Government has exempted itself. At a minimum, this raises the ante to:

  • $154,000 per citizen, or
  • $620,000 per family.

And, maybe much worse if you believe $128 trillion estimate of unfunded liabilities.

Is it fair to pass this debt onto your children?[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container backgroundcolor=”” backgroundimage=”” backgroundrepeat=”no-repeat” backgroundposition=”left top” backgroundattachment=”scroll” video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” bordersize=”0px” bordercolor=”” borderstyle=”solid” paddingtop=”18px” paddingbottom=”9px” paddingleft=”0px” paddingright=”0px” menu_anchor=”” equal_height_columns=”no” hundred_percent=”no” class=”cta-question” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]

Which America do you want for your children?
