The Issue and its Facts

Every new regulation adds to a mountain of instructions from the government on how we must live our lives. There are now over 87,000 pages of Federal Regulations alone, plus countless pages of state and local regulations.

These regulations cover what light bulbs we must use in our homes, how much water we can flush down the toilet, what the water temperature in our dishwasher should be. The instructions are seemingly endless, and most of these regulations were written by unelected bureaucrats.

The cost of regulations to the American economy is $14,087 per family per year.

Every new regulation brings unintended consequences. One man’s new regulation is another man’s loss of freedom. If a bulldozer or truck must have a bell clanging while backing up, a nurse living nearby just off the night shift must listen to that bell while trying to sleep. Every new regulation restricts someone else’s freedom. The greater the regulation, the less the liberty.

Progressive Thinking

We know what is best for our nation, and it’s important that everyone play by the same rules.  Regulations are the guardrails that keep us safe. Through better regulation, we can change the behavior of both people and organizations. Government needs more resources to better understand the impact of regulations and adjust them to better meet our goals as a society.

Better Thinking

Every new regulation creates unintended consequences. We can keep our communities, food, water, workplaces and environment safe without the force of law coming from top-down, Washington bureaucrats. The more effective way to a safer, better society is with a grassroots, bottom-up approach. As communities, associations and researchers collaborate, we find natural solutions customized to each specific situation and are able to solve problems without the interference — and unintended consequences — that come from industrial age, one-size-fits-all mandates from the bureaucracy in Washington.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_3″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ class=”” id=””][fusion_text][fusion_title size=”3″ content_align=”left” style_type=”double solid” sep_color=”” class=”” id=””]Latest[/fusion_title][fusion_blog number_posts=”1″ cat_slug=”government-regulation” exclude_cats=”” title=”yes” title_link=”yes” thumbnail=”yes” excerpt=”yes” excerpt_length=”0″ meta_all=”no” meta_author=”yes” meta_categories=”yes” meta_comments=”yes” meta_date=”yes” meta_link=”yes” meta_tags=”no” paging=”no” scrolling=”pagination” strip_html=”yes” blog_grid_columns=”2″ blog_grid_column_spacing=”40″ layout=”medium” class=”” id=””][/fusion_blog][/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”” background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” padding_top=”18px” padding_bottom=”9px” padding_left=”” padding_right=”” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”cta-question” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]
